Virgil Films Acquires 'The Eichmann Trial'

Through rare and never-before-seen seen archival footage, witness one of the most shocking trials ever recorded, and the birth of Holocaust education.

Virgil Films announced it has acquired North American rights to the new documentary The Eichmann Trial in a deal made by CEO Joe Amodei, Co-President Tim Maggiani and Director Elliot Levitt. The film, which highlights real footage of the 1961 landmark trial in Jerusalem, will be coming to Digital HD February 27th.

Just 15 years after the end of WWII, the Holocaust had been largely forgotten. That changed with the capture of Adolf Eichmann, a former Nazi officer hiding in Argentina.

The Eichmann Trial offered the world a comprehensive view of the atrocities committed by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Eichmann was a key architect of it, responsible for organizing the logistics of mass deportation and extermination of millions of Jews. His trial shed light on the depth of Nazi crimes and the systematic genocide of the Jewish population.

The trial had a profound impact on Holocaust remembrance and education as well. Survivors' testimonies were shared, providing a platform for their voices and experiences. It helped ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust would not be forgotten and reinforced the importance of commemorating and learning from this dark chapter in history.

“This film puts the viewer right there in a front row seat to watch the mesmerizing testimony of one of the key architects of the Third Reich,” Says Maggiani. “Viewing this from the lens of the observer is as frightening as any horror film ever made as it is what really happened.”

“The current climate in this world is one of the reasons why we are proud to bring this film now to audiences,” says Amodei. “Now more than ever people need to remember the significance of bringing justice to those who commit such evil.”

The Eichmann Trial was significant not only for bringing a key perpetrator of the Holocaust to justice but also for its wider implications in international law, discussions on individual responsibility, and its role in shaping Holocaust remembrance and education.
