‘The Eichmann Trial’ Releases Official Trailer

[27] January 2024 - On this International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the trailer has been released for 'The Eichmann Trial’, a feature-length documentary about the 1961 trial that captured the world’s attention. Created entirely from archival footage of the trial itself and the international news coverage that accompanied it, ‘The Eichmann Trial’ provides an insightful and surprising look at a pivotal event that shaped the world’s understanding of the Holocaust.

The trailer showcases some of the material, much of it never before seen by the public, that appears in the film. Among the footage is a behind-the-scenes look at the hasty preparation of the courtroom in which Eichmann would be tried, interviews with Israelis and Germans supporting or opposing the trial, and highlights from the four-month proceeding itself.

Just 15 years after the end of World War II, the Holocaust was already considered ancient history. Barely taught in high school or college courses, the attempted extermination of the Jewish people had been largely forgotten outside of the still-young refuge of Israel. All that changed on May 11, 1960 when Adolf Eichmann, a former Nazi officer hiding in Argentina, was captured and whisked to Jerusalem to stand trial. Over the course of the trial, filmed in its entirety and broadcast worldwide on television, many learned for the first time about the extent and horror of Nazi atrocities. During Eichmann’s fiery cross-examination, a debate over disobedience to orders and the banality of evil began which continues to this day. The trial has re-entered the news recently with the revelation that Israel is assembling a case based on the Eichmann trial against Hamas terrorists captured in the wake of the October 7th attack.

‘The Eichmann Trial’ premiered at the 2023 Miami Jewish Film Festival and will be released in Digital HD on February 27, 2024 by Virgil Films (‘Restrepo’, ‘Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me’).
